In the Kaleidoscope series Kathy explores her interests in boundaries and continuity from a different angle. In 1999, Kathy was given a kaleidoscope as a gift. It was the beginning of a collection, and a series of paintings. In these, Kathy makes use of her drafting skills to map the design with pencil and drafting instruments, and then adds watercolors. Some elements stay within the lines, while others stretch the boundaries.

Kaleidoscopes No. 1 and No. 2 have a static yet vibrant quality, like stained glass windows. Kaleidoscope No. 3, "The Salad," has a mysterious, mystical feel that brings to mind a Tibetan mandala or a pentagram run amok.
