Kathy's fascination with geometric shapes and their interrelationship comes into play in her Quilt Series. She maps out traditional quilt patterns using drafting instruments, and uses paint and water to create the different "fabric" textures within the structure. In Quilt No. 2, the pattern and clear definition of the "fabric" strips combines with vivid yet mottled colors that reveal the age and delicacy of the fabric even more than could be revealed by fabric itself. Quilt No. 1 pieces together shapes of matte color and other shapes with textures that hint at a living fabric.
